Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread

I just find them, like you said, underwhelming. The slight bit of extra separation/resolution I get (for example, more easily picking out the sounds of fingers sliding down the frets on a guitar) vs the teaks isn't worth losing the teak's bass/low end fullness to me. The 650's instruments sound a little muffled, maybe distant is a better word, what with the mids/vocals being more forward. Again, I'm still by and large just a noob at this, so I may not be using the proper nomenclature.

I hope we hear something soon about these LCD's. If we haven't gotten any more info by Black Friday I'm likely to splurge on something else instead.
There's nothing noob about your observations. That's exactly how I've felt every time I tried the 650s. Yes, lots of detail, separation, yada yada. The Fostex may not have as much, but it has plenty, but is just SO much more enjoyable with its weight and heft and fun. More "musical" I would say. Likewise the LCD-2 has every bit of the 650s detail and imaging plus better and deeper bass, that's planar "wall of sound" which is hard to explain, and everything in-between. Personally, wait for the LCD-2C, and if you don't hear from Audeze, I suspect there'll be a Black Friday pair of LCD-2F's with your name on it...

To chime in quickly, I didn't think the HD660s had enough going on in the low end and they felt almost a little bit lifeless without an EQ. This isn't to say that they are bad headphones, they certainly had great detail, soundstage, imaging, etc.

But If I had to choose between the 660s and the LCD-2C I'd probably go for the LCD-2C.

I have similar experience with HD6xx AKA 650, while I like mid presentation overall 6xx sound were dull and lifeless. Anemic (for my taste) high were roll off too quick. I ditched 6xx as soon as I get Teaks. From time to time, Teaks put smile on my face for their awesome bass then came Atticus. I have both Teaks and Atticus for about two weeks so I did a lot of A/B comparison on both headphones before decided to keep Atticus. Many people felt Atticus over hyped but they are good headphones. I have burned couple of times following audiophile advice :) your ideal cans are not mine.

It seems that I was charged immediately, used Paypal.

Excited, but also a bit apprehensive ordering the first batch of a newish Audeze product. Let’s hope they don’t screw anything up.

I'd kill for these. Probably my #2 fave sound of all time.

I'd love to hear it some time. I wouldn't want ANYTHING changed from the original LCD2 non-fazor sound.

Very heavy compared to my Oppo PM-3. Better try them out in the shop before I decide to buy the LCD-2C.
