I am actually still interested to see if there are any tube amps that produce a frequency range as flat as a decent solid state amplifier, so if you know of one could you please post it.
When talking about solid state amplifiers vs tubes I was generalizing I realize there are exceptions but in general solid state amplifiers produce less distortion and have flatter fr's.
I probably shouldn't have generalized as it has clearly been misinterpreted.
200kHz bandwidth for audio amps was commonplace back in the day. Solid state amp "in general" produce gobs more odd order harmonics which are very dissonant and unpleasant to the ear while tube amps tend to produce even order harmonics, which within reason, are judged as pleasant to the ear. The only way xistor amps get their THD spec down so low is through gobs of negative feedback which destroys other sonic attributes of an audio signal. How's that for sweeping generalizations?
