After deciding to step up my planar game into the A line, I looked at some written and video reviews, liked what I heard and found a like new pair of EL 8 opens on line. After doing the deal and waiting to receive them I did more research here on HF.

Seems there were a lot of problems with drivers, cables and head bands. I am still waiting to receive my pair. What I do know is they are in a white box and they were purchased in January of 2016.

My questions are: are there any owners/prior owners out there that have had NO/ZERO problems with their EL 8 opens? And when did Audeze complete their production changes to get what was being sold up to their standards?

Thanks for your input.

I've owned a pair of el-8s i bought used and have had zero issues. the guy i bought them from said they were made January 2017 though and I'm not sure if they updated them since. as far as the headband goes these feel well built and the only thing really I could say is an issue is the left ear cup kind of makes a crinkling sound when i take the headphones off but only then or i guess if i jolt my head left and right while wearing them but realistically when moving my head up and down the crinkling is not an issue. I personally love the connectors on these. they feel stronger than using 3.5mm and I don't really baby them but i am somewhat careful not tho throw them around and drop on the connector and so far in 6 months of use the connectors still fit tightly but not too tight they break away if the cord gets caught on a chair arm or something. Them being proprietary as heck might make replacing them annoying and limits custom cables but they are out there if desired. All in all I am very happy with my el-8s and have no real issues aside from slight crackling which is only really heard when taking them off (something about the thin plastic film in these and the suction pulling away from head)
