Audeze EL-8 Impressions Thread

Recently, some mishandling happened and part of the suspended headband broke

But I contacted Audeze and they were prompt and courteous and they sent me a pre-paid shipping label for 2-day shipping and everything was great.
Also, I found, aside from that one mistake made, the build quality still holds up great

(posting this in all the EL-8 threads)

I need a Balanced EL-8 cable that terminates in 4-pin XLR. So far these are the only two options I've figured out:

or

The first option comes out to be $100 and the second $125. Are there any cheaper cables or adapters out there or are these my only two choices?

If these are my only two choices, which do you think is the best route? The adapter I may find a use for in the future, but the custom cable may perform better?

Forgive his mispronounciation of Audeze but what do you all make of this review. From what I had read previously the El-8 weren't at the level of others in its price range yet he claims that these are better than the 560s. Did Audeze make a silent change to the product that I didn't know about?

How do you know which version you have? I just order a pair and I want to make sure I have the latest version.

All models manufactured in 2016 are the tweaked or improved ones. You can see it in the leaflet that comes with your brand new Audezes.

Excellent! I ordered dealer demos on a discount, so I wanted to make sure.

Does anyone else who has a 2016 model have this weird squishy nouse coming from headphon. I recently got a new pair from audeze because last one had bad left driver and I wish I didn't switch it because now it makes that weird noise.

Heard these in store today. Even just from my iPhone 6s+ I was extremely impressed. I liked them better than the hd800s! Of course I haven't heard the hd800 with a $1000 dac and $1000 amp  . These will most likely be my next full size purchase.

To me I enjoy the open back a lot more and I've demoed almost every high end headphone and these to me sounded better than anything outside of headphones over $1500. Big kudos to Audeze for these.

Yes I agree! I've demoed the hd600/650, hd700, hd800, and other acclaimed full sized cans and these were my favorite (although the hd600 was really good too!).
