Audeze EL-8 Closed Version Impressions Thread

Has anyone purchased the EL-8 Titanium in the past month or so?

The pair I received for reveiew - July 2016 build date - have an oval of thick damping felt inserted under the ear pad, in front of the driver.
This is in addition to the felt ring & thin fabric that's already part of the pad.

Looking through older photos in this thread, it appears that the original EL-8 closed (2015) and more recent EL-8 Titanium (see a few posts above this one) do not appear to have that damping material in there. Note how in the earlier pictures, you can see the fazor things through the ear pads.

Could it be that Audeze is still tuning the sound of these cans?

Is modded cable worth it for EL-8? What is the best place to get them for CHEAP?

Thanks in advance

Hey! Does anyone both have the t5p 2nd gen and the audeze el8 (2016) or ti?

I've listened to the Beyer for a longer time in a hifi-shop, but I'm concerned about the reported isolation and leakage. I really liked the soundstage and excellent seperation.

How does the Audeze compare? Unfortunately I could just demo it in a loud Apple Store, but it isolated quite well. On the brief listen, I've found the soundstage to be smaller and also the highs could be more harsh at times, but that may also be due to high volume setting I needed to use ..

Which one do you prefer and why?
As I could them for nearly the same price I'm torn between these two.
I tried the dt1770 too, but prefered t5p.

I mainly listen to well produced electronic and Indie Rock music, some classic. I currently own a PSB m4u2 and meizu pro 5 with sabre ess9018k2m but may upgrade to a dedicated device later.

How well do you people think the Topping NX1A would drive these? Being a student, I don't have crazy good equipment. I am considering picking up some EL-8  for a bargain. These would be my first truly high-end headphones. Thanks!

Recently Adorama sold them for 350 (even though they said refurbished I got a Brand New one). So, make sure you will get it for less than that.

I have Mojo Chord and LG V10. LG V10 run them smoothly. First get headphones and listen to them with your gear. Then think about AMP.
