I am using them directly with R6 Pro - Atticus is ok, but Eikon would benefit from more power

Speaking of which, my wife bought me a vintage Samsui amp which, upon arrival, needed a good polish. Am currently testing it with my Atticus. And the sound is really good! This is actually destined for my basement stereo rig.

I would like to thank @metal571. His purple-burst Atticus urged me to order a custom Atticus for myself.

Also, big thanks to zach, bevin and all of zmf!

Score on that Sansui. Looks like a nice piece.

Thanks! A few of my stereo pieces have recently *** the bed, so I was looking for replacements. A few weeks ago, I happened upon a similar piece (Sansui amp, different model, AU-5900). I know that buying vintage gear blind is a total crapshoot, but I'm a bit of a gambler. Turns out it worked perfectly right out of the box. So I decided to roll the dice (sorry for all the Vegas refs!) again, this time for the AU-7700. That's twice I got lucky (you know what I mean).

These vintage units are so freakin' sexy!!!!!

Killer, indeed. I might prefer its sound to eikon, and I love eikon.

I need a sunny day to get some direct-sunlight pics of it. In normal lighting its very dark, but in good lighting it lights up like a golden flame.

Pretty much the same with my purple burst. Is that camphor burl with the stain? Looks totally incredible. Definitely interested in your thoughts on FR and stage. And be sure to try the suede Ori pads as well

Just standard camphor, the stain appears to be the same style of burst as the purple, it is dark brown around the edges. The camphor wood itself can vary wildly in appearance/texture, from what I've seen.

I also got the Ori Suede pads and will have to give them a roll, but I sure like the lamb ori pads' sound.

I'm not the best judge of sound; most of my listening time is on my Eikon (stock pads) and porta pro with yaxi pads/kramer mod. Plus only had them on for about 2 hours yesterday.

I did notice the stage on Atty is not as tall or deep, but it does a great job placing instruments and has about the same width.

I like the mids a bit better than on eikon, its definitely more relaxed.

Early impressions, gotta get more time with the Atty.

I much like that third picture, man Zach can make a headphone look as good as it sounds.
    That stain looks fantastic.

I just swapped out my Ori for my Atticus. I swap these two every couple of weeks.

I am listening to this set-up and the sound stage is huge and spacious and the mid bass is to die for, I have lots of love for the Atticus.

That is sweet, looks blood-red! The cocobolos I have seen usually look orange.

Atticus' bass was pretty unsettling on first listen, the impact is tremendous and undeniably similar to the Ori I owned.

What really got me was the midrange. It is never shouty or smoothed over, it just 'is'...very pure and easy to listen to.

80% of my playlist is metal, and I definitely want to call the Atticus the 'rock and roll' headphone.
