Hi
I bought a PreSonus HP4 4-port headphone amp to power 2 Sennheiser HD595's.
I really just needed 2 ports, but I could not find any 2 output with individual volume control amps for less than $500, and the HP4 was only $129.
As input to the HP4 I use my receiver headphone out.
The problem is that using the headphone out, the input level to the HP4 is too high, and I get clipping even at the lowest HP4 volume level.
I contacted PreSonus, and they told me the HP4 is to be used with line-level inputs only.
But, my AVR only down-mixes multi-channel audio to the headphone out, not the L/R line-out.
They also said I can try a line attenuator, but they cannot recommend a specific model.
Ideally the amp should have had an option to limit input amplification, but that is not available.
Can you recommend an attenuator to reduce the headphone out level to line level, i.e. install between headphone out and HP4 in?
Regards
P.
