SOLVED: Im an idiot and had the ring and tip reversed.

So I just tried to do a balanced detachable cable mod on my AKG240s and I can hear sound, but its extremely low. Like I have to crank my amp to 100% and its just barely audible.

Not sure what I did wrong. I used these 3.5mm jacks.

This is the diagram for the pins. I soldered each side to the ground and tip.

I did red to the tip and white to ground, which I confirmed with my multimeter on the original 1/4" jack. Here is a pic of what I did. Same thing for each side.

and if i can get this working properly, here is what it will look like complete. its not very pretty, the jacks are too long and the headband attachment gets in the way of trying to get them flush. but at least it will get rid of that abrasive and way too long of a cord.

any ideas?

Would recommend using a 3.5mm jack for a phone or dap they will be quite a bit smaller
