Hi,

I am looking for a closed headphone, that would isolate noise. The ATH-SJ5 seems to be great, but they seem to fit the head like my sony MDR-V500, which I hate, because they can't stay on my head. If i look on the ground, they just fall...

Right now, I'm using Alessandro MS1, which I love. Warm sound, and some great bass and mid, but I can't use them on the go.

Any suggestions or advice for the headphone I should buy ? my price is max 70$cad

The SJ5's don't isolate all that well... But, they're IMMENSELY comfortable, and I haven't had them fall off my head for a while. Shipped from Audio Cubes, they're slightly over your budget, at around 80 bucks... but I saw some on the For Sale forum not long ago.

Haven't looked for a while, though.

But they're awesome.

Well I can get them at 70CAD$, from audiocubes, that is why I have look at them. Can you shake your head without them falling ? And would you say you can use them in the bus without putting the sound to the max ?

I do a fair bit of headbanging, depending on what music I listen to... and they've stayed on so far. The only time they fell off was because they got snagged on a branch...

As for bus listening, it's plenty fine. I commute almost exclusively by bus now that I managed to wreck my bike (don't drink and drive, kids), and I keep the volume at about 50% on my Nano. Blocks out most of the engine noise and the high school girls' cackling... Unfortunately I live near a high school. It's nowhere near perfect, but you'll notice a SIGNIFICANT difference when you take them off.

Also, if you're worried about that, there's absolutely no sound that leaks out of those. Well, not a lot at least. I've used them in the library numerous times, without anyone noticing.

Thank you for answering my questions ! I will probably go for them, unless I find something else that might be as good in Canada. They look pretty nice!

Oh, another thing regarding SJ5's and Canadian weather: I'm in Ottawa, and the warm pleather pads were GREAT during the winter. I didn't wear a hat most of the time, and they kept my ears nice and toasty!

Now though, they're a bit too hot. I'm thinking of getting IEM's for my "summer 'phones" needs.

I'm currently using EP630 which are great if you're looking for decent but cheap IEM. Plenty of isolation and pretty easy to remove, maybe a little to much. It think it has a great sound.

Good stuff, I'll look into them!

Buuuut it was more of a warning than anything: if you plan on using the SJ5's in the middle of July, prepare for sweaty ears.

It's even more disgusting than it sounds.

eH150's are great all arounders, very natural sound with only a few dips here and there, isolate very well, you can get them $40 shipped.
