Hello everyone,

I am used to listening to music in bed. Tonight, while I was sleeping, the headphones fell down from the bed on the heater. It was touching the heater with one speaker and it now smells bad. Also, the sound seems to be destroyed (I can hear sounds, but they sound like in cheap 10$ headphones) in that speaker (in other one everything is fine). I feel so bad now. What can I do myself, is it reparable and how much should I expect to spend? Please help!

Thank you all.

The diaphragm on the driver maybe melted.

Sounds like you need a new pair of headphones.

Arent diaphragms sold separately? Is it a good idea to send them to official AudioTechnica service or can I ask to repair them in some music tool shops (I live in bay are and there are couple of stores which do headphone repair)?

You may be able to buy a new driver and install it yourself if you're handy like that.

It couldn't hurt to see about getting them repaired, but for something like headphones in the $100 range, repairs could be nearly as costly as just buying a new set.

Actually I contacted AudioTechnica USA support and they asked me 57.13$ for one speaker replacement + shipping. Then I asked how much is the new speaker itself and it was 16.30$ + shipping. So I am thinking about buying it and asking someone to install it. Are there any recommendations about how to solder headphones? Here are the pictures (impacted one is right - no cord plug-in) https://postimg.org/gallery/1o2535cyq/

Are there any other possible causes of the problem execpt drivers?

Thanks
