I haven't posted in a long time, but I just got some $15 Audio-Technica ATH-M2X headphones from Musician's Friend. Once I equalize the treble up a bit, they sound excellent. Ear positioning is important too, but once you get them right, they're very, very nice. I can't believe the sound for this price. It's not as refined as, say, an $80 pair, but I don't think there's better value. Bass is deep and punchy and the midrange isn't too bad either. The only real problem is getting the treble to the right volume and positioning the pads on your ears so they don't muffle the sound. Once there, however, the high end is really clear and crisp. All in all, great buy, and everyone that likes portable sound should seriously consider getting a pair (or two).

I agree with you.
These headphones are quite superb for less than $20, if you can find them.
They're VERY lightweight and kind of DJ style.

The plastic may be thin but the quality is quite high and durable.
I gave mine away to a friend but they're still awesome.

I just bought a pair of these for $2 from a thrift store, and thought i'd throw in my two bits:

The lack of treble is probably due to the huge solid phase plug in front of the driver. A careful hacker could probably bring up the treble by drilling some holes in it.

As for the bass, it's one-note bass with a boxy feel to it.

A KSC75 walks all over these.

I did remove the plastic pieces when I got them, but it did seem like a really good deal for what they are. I just got the KSC-75s and they are better, but still, for $15 they're alright.
