So the Audio Technica ATH-FC7 and Creative HQ-1700 are apparently the same, with the exception of velour pads on the creative pair.

Does anyone know if this is the only difference?

I'm very curious as to the sound quality and such as I prefer the velour pads but don't want to sacrifice any sound quality by choosing the creative pair. Since these will go with a Creative MuVo it also adds ever so slightly a feeling of unison thats pleasent (though generally this is a bad thing *cough* ipod).

But all in all, I'd just like to know the differences between the two aside from the velour pads.

Yep they are the same, just different pads and labeling.

You can get different pads for the FC7's.
