How are these? I'm looking at the Mylar X3's, and Jaben has a bundle for ten bucks more that includes the ATH-CK5's. If I decide to get the Mylars, I don't see why I shouldn't spend the extra ten bucks for 40 dollar headphones just for the hell of it. I've found little info on the ATH-CK5 though. Even if they completely sucked it wouldn't be a huge loss.

They are definitely worth the upgraded price. I ordered the Mylar X3 from Jaben and chose the Beyer DTX 50 bundle. I figure curiousity would get the better of me eventually with the Beyer unit, so after thinking about it, the price break of the bundle sold me. Even if you find you don't like the Ck5's, you will be able to use their silicon tips and/or gift them, as they would make a tremendous gift to someone with a bit less of a discerning ear.

Mine are still in the mail. I will give a comparison a few days after they arrive. I ordered them about a bit over a week ago, so probably in two weeks I will post a review and let you know. Curiousity totally got the better of me here, as I am interested in owning a beyer product and I heard the dtx50 are a bit bassy which is how I like ECH headphones. Heard wonderful things about the Mylar...figured I would cut my waiting time in half and save a few bucks in the long run by just getting them both at the same time. For under $50 for each, it seems like a great deal.

And they are here! After about 25 minutes of shuffling between the two... I have not found a clear-cut favorite. I would say that the beyer's do not fit quite as well as they are not as sleek and a but clumsy by comparison. They do have stronger bass but I have not at this point found them to be muddy at all. The X3 out of the box sounded very good, tremendous detail for an ECH but a bit thin in the bass. Im sure with a bit more time, this could be interesting. I will burn them both in and let you all know how they compare officially.

for those who order the X3 + CK5 bundle, take in to account that the silicon tips that come with the CK5 DO NOT fit the X3, they are too large and fit loosly, no isolation,

the CK5 is a good to use as a replacmenet or a nice headphone to give to a sibling, but i wouldnt use it as my first choice, i just think that for 10$, its a good backup set,

I didn't thik much of the CK5, so i chose the bass heavy beyers. The thump will not dissapoint, and they should be clean enough sounding for most!
