So, my first pair of "high-end" headphones were the beyer DT770 Pro/80's...burned them in for several days then used them for about a month, gaming, music etc... My tastes say they have waaaaaaaaaay too much boomy base, highly recessed midrange and tend to turn a bit harsh on the high end not to mention way too hot for extended listening/gaming sessions. Now I turn to open cans, hoping to mellow out the sound as well as allow some ventilation...just say no to sweaty ears.

The 2 sets i'm looking at are both well rated but not ever really compared. For those that have used either or both, how do they perform for gaming and music...metal, pop, anything except classic and country. Price isn't really an issue as they both can be had for roughly the same"ish" price and if they need amped...they'll be amped.

the 650 is much more difficult to get "right"

the ad900 is easy.

completely different sound signature.

you want mellow get the 650.

A900, A950LTD, tight bass compared to DT770, closed, good for gaming. AD900's open, should have better mids but not as much punch as the A900's. Perhaps even try the AD700's. HD595 do well too.
