A few days ago, I accidently dropped my A900s, and they plastic cracked.

I tried using krazy glue to get it back together, but that fails. It bonds together, yes, but when I put the headphones on again, they just seperate again. I picked mine up from AudioCubes (well, only place to get them I think). Do I need to send them to Japan to get them fixed now? Any ideas of something that might work? Or maybe I should use this as a excuse to "upgrade". Heh.

.

I tried to search, but no information really showed about about ATH-900s being damaged. I baby mine, but I accidently left them on top of my bed when I went to sleep, and when I woke up, they were on floor, so the impact was it for them. At least I can wear them if I hold the right side with one hand, but you only can do that for so long.

So, any suggestions? Thanks.

west systems epoxy + fiberglass is your friend

Hmm..two votes for epoxy. I'll guess its another trip to Walmart tomorrow (at least, I hope they carry it). Or would I get something like that at HomeDepot or somewhere like that?

Hopefuly, this will work out. ^^ I've been going crazy without them the past few days, having to resort using my speakers for stuff now. I would go crazy if had to do without them for a couple weeks if I had to send them out to Japan. It's just not the same with speakers anymore (unless I'm playing DDR, in which I need the speakers, heh).

Btw, reason I think the cracked is I probably tossed a bit, and the headphones were probably knocked off with some force. Only logical reason, since it's only a 2ft drop onto carpet.

you could also try pinning the cracket part. tape it up into the correct alignment, drill thin holes all the way through, put pieces of wire inside these holes, and fill the holes with epoxy. it should hold and not look too bad.

If superglue didn't do the trick I don't think silicone would last very long either. I'm not sure that Walmart has the epoxy, I know Home Depot has like 9 varieties of it. Just keep in mind that adhesives like this can turn into a mess if your not careful.... so don't load it on

*Shiver* Those kind of images terrify me.

The fact that my ATH-A900s have essentially no warranty (compared to, say, HD-595s/HD-555s from Sennheiser, a company that provides an extensive warranty) played a role in my reluctance to purchase them, but since I couldn't have the HD-595s, I couldn't resist.

Good luck with the epoxy.

Hopefully none of us in this forum have to confront the same problem with our ATH-A900s.

I tried the epoxy, but it doesn't work as well as I wanted to. I might have to send these off to Japan.

They bonded, but a small part just refuses to come together. So my A900s wont clamp like they did before. Sound escapes from the right still. This is depressing. I feel naked and lost without my headphones. ;;_____;; Now I might be without them for two weeks (and this is being optimistic, depending on how long it takes AudioCubes to ship them back to me.

Got it. I figure I give it one last shot. I took my phones, and some rubbing alcohol, and removed all the epoxy and stuff that was on my phones. I then reapplied the epoxy, and let them sit for a couple hours. Now they are wearable.
