In case you haven't checked out their prices, Audio Cubes just raised the prices on the A1000 to $320, and the W1000 now costs $379!!!! That's over $40 EACH!!! Sorry about that for those who didn't buy them earlier.

Well that pretty much ruins it for me. It was going to be a stretch to get the A1000 at $279.00 and almost impossible to get the W1000 at $339.00 which would probably have been more than $600.00 CAD by the time I got it shipped here.

HI: That really sucks. I feel sorry for the members who were going to by one of them but now wont because of the price. Every time we find a good thing and all start to jump on it they raise the price. I think a boycott might be in order but then you wont get these fantastic cans. Now with all that out of my system I still think that the ATH-A1000 is worth 40.00 more money. I would not sell my A1000 for 600.00. And if you think I am kidding try me out. Sorry about this for those who it might effect badly.

Hi Head-Fiers,

Thank you for your support on Audio Cubes. I visit Head-Fi all the time to get the user comments on headphones and on our service. This message alerted me because it seems that we raise prices on products that we sell well. It really worries me when I see this message.

This is not how we do business. We do not raise prices if there are high demands on certain products. Our prices reflect entirely on how much we can get these products for. So far only 4 A1000's and 9 W1000's have been sold and we do not see a high demand for these headphones albeit they may be quite popular in discussions in this forum. The truth is not many users outside of Asia know about Audio-Technica's high end headphones and thus there is never a high demand on these type of products. Our major business still lies in MiniDisc/Audio related gear and accessories. I just wanted to clarify on this particular issue. In regards to the price increase of the A1000's and W1000's, I was notified by our Japan manager that the cost of getting these headphones have increased. I suspect that this price increase is permanent. If you have doubts, please visit Japan's online etailers such as yodobashi.com and do a search on the W1000 and A1000 and you should see the prices are very similar to what we have.

Again, I wanted to clarify any misunderstanding here. If you have more questions, feel free to email us at info@audiocubes.com and we will try our best to assist you. Thank you.

Edit: I guess I was too slow.

I think that AC are just selling them at close to Japanese retail price now. It seems as though the A1000 is selling for full Japanese retail while the W1000 is selling for the Japanese street price. I checked a Japanese retailer website and found the W1000 for $376 while the A1000 is about $295.

To put in a word for Audio Cubes and specifically Kohn who I've been dealing with there for a little while, I wanted to just get the word out on the price increase, and I trust that if Kohn says he raised the price because he is paying more for those cans, I believe him. Since he is one of the very few people who has AT stuff available to us, he is really providing a nice service. It is difficult to find these new for the US market, so his web site in English really makes life nice for us to conveniently buy our stuff from him with reasonable shipping costs!! One purchase shipped from that area cost me $60!!!

Kohn, thanks for the info and clearing up the reason for the price increase. I hope that many of the people here will continue to buy their headphones and related equipment from you!!!!!!

Hi Doug,

Consumers have the right to know. I would be worried if the product I am interested in buying all the sudden increased in price. I was quite worried myself when I was notified by Ichiro, our Japan side manager - because we do not want our customers to think that we have inconsistent and rather fraudulent pricing. In any case, I want to thank you for your kind words. I hope you will continue enjoy your headphones!

Due to your open and honest nature I ahve constantly experienced when dealing with you, you earned my respect!! In this day and age when customer service and communication are pathetic, you have always done your best to keep up with what public opinion has to say about your company and products!! I have only heard of a few people who mointor this and other sites and respond to problems and questions, and you're one of them.

Keep making us happy by providing a source of great sounding cans, great customer sevice, and timely communications and you'll find a lot of loyal customers choosing to use your web site to do business with!!!

Thanks for the headphones, I look forward to listening to the W1000 next week!!!

Are they better than Sen 600? Sorry I wasn't following the old thread.

In every way possible except price.

At least one of the people here, Lou, bought their lower A100Ti model and sold off their Senn stuff right after getting the ATs. I sold my Senn 600 to get the W1000, and will never look back for doing so!!

Now with the new and improved A/W 1000 cans, these should be quite a bit better than the Senns. But then again, for $100 more they had better be better!!!! (At least IMHO!)

Hi Doug,

Again, thank you for your kind words. It really keeps us going. Instead of using the word "monitoring," I think the word "educating" is much more appropriate. My personal interest has always been in MiniDisc and other audio products. I forgot how I stumbled acrosse Head-Fi and now I find myself visiting not just to read on comments, but also to broaden my knowledge in the world of headphones. The messages posted here are all very informative. I wish I could join the discussion except I do not think I am qualified yet. Please do share your experience with the W1000's when you receive them. Have fun.

HI: How are you and welcome to head-fi. The ATH-A1000 cans are awesome and much better than the ATH-A100ti. The new angeled drivers put in the middle of the can gives it a better mid range and overall fuller sound. Also by putting the angel drivers from side to side I get a better sound stage and more accurate sound because of them being in the middle of the cup. Also the cups are a lot bigger and also gives a bigger sound stage as well as comfort.

Yay, I was 25% of the buyers for the A1000 (that means I purchased... (1) pair)!

Hey, Let's see, Lou bought a pair... I bought a pair... where's the other 50% guys?
