I just recently got a pair of ATh-a900s and im looking for a nice starter amp to give them a little boost.

i was looking around and i saw the AT-HA2 for $70 at audiocubes. anyone have it? is it worth the money at all. or is it just more worth it to get the basic headroom amp.

anyhelp would be great the concept of an amp for headphones is still very forign to me.

The AT-HA2 has some shortcomings, and there are forum threads that describe them. For example, see this thread. If search is working, you might try a search for more threads. There are quite a few that mention this amp.

Anyway, you can do a lot better. In the $60-85 range, perhaps a Headsave Vibe. Or for $150-200, perhaps a PIMETA (for example, built by ITZBITZ, JMT, MisterX, and others). Also, there are the HeadRoom amps that you mentioned. All of the above outperform the AT-HA2.
