Ok thank you! From what I’ve read and understand...

I have SR15 with Sennheiser HD660s headphones. Therefore any additional external DAC or Amp shouldn’t really make that much difference at all?

I’ve been using the FiiO Q5 along with Dragonfly for use with iPhone. I haven’t got round to testing this set up Vs the SR15 yet.

    Hey folks,

is there a way to get a simple album view within an artist selection?

I’ve had several AK players before and they’ve never shown albums within the artist like the A&Norma does by listing all the songs below the album name. I’d prefer it so it just showed you the album, click on it to show the songs within the album.

Currently no, but this is being changed for a future firmware update.

Using my Sony WH-1000XM3 bluetooth headphones, the equalizer setting is ignored. Will this bug be fixed in the upcoming firmware?

Can we get that for Genre too, please? Apparently I'm in the minority, I do prefer my music sorted by Genre > Artist > Album > Song.

So yeah, it arrived today. Putting a looot of music on there. Which takes forever to get indexed and makes the device run really hot. And even drains the battery while it's charging, which is kinda scary.

As mentioned towards the beginning of this thread, the SR15 runs warmer during burn in period and runs cooler after about 30 - 40 hours or so of usage.

Thing is, this is a (slightly) used unit, but I think I just overwhelmed the poor thing by throwing some 400GB of stuff at it at once. Took a few hours for it to display folders and just work properly, but I think it's done processing everything and ready to go. It has cooled down significantly as well.

(And yeah this is quite an improvement in sound over my good old Plenue D...)

You are correct that you may see some warmth as the player is processing and indexing a large amount of new files in the background. The player will index in the background over a period of time. I usually recommend after copying a large amount of files like that to run a manual media scan as it forces the player to scan and index in the foreground all at once and speeds up the process considerably. Usually takes about 5 - 8 minutes, but can take up to 15 minutes depending on how many files in internal and external memory.

To perform an manual media scan: Settings -> System Reset -> Initialize media scan

Thanks for that clarification. I have another question. When not in use, the device turns itself off, and when turning it on again, it takes about five to seven minutes for the "media scan" to run through. Is there a possibility to either disable the device turning off (at the expense of battery, though I'm not sure how much battery the media scan on a restart uses in comparison), or... Some method to speed this process up? Would you recommend to whenever the device restarts to run a manual media scan as well?

Or is that maybe an issue with the type of microSD card I use?

I have a full 400gb card and it only takes about 1 minute to start up and be ready to play.

You can access power settings in the menu at Settings -> Timer Settings

The scan at startup looks for any file changes. There is no way to disable it, but there is a firmware update in the works to speed the process up in anticipation of us officially supporting 1TB cards on the devices.

It is not necessary to do a manual scan when adding or removing files. The only times I recommend it is when there are significant changes 10GB+ of files added or deleted, or if after you add files, the album art does not display correctly. A manual scan will fix that if your files are tagged correctly.
