Thanks Jason. I was about to mention the power supply issue. A user posted above asking why AK couldn’t do flagship chips like 9038 pro here, and the power supply was the answer.

To me it is a compromise here and sort of explains why it is priced cheaper. When making a “trimmed down” version of the flagship dap (which in fact comes out with more features like the tube amp), some compromises have to be made.

I have high regard for the Ultima line, hence my disappointment of using such an affordable dac that isn’t on par spec wise within ESS’s product range

The Cirrus in Ibasso DX300 is one of those top tier from Cirrus themselves. Also, if we are going to compare here, does SP2KT sport 2 batteries and dedicated supplies ?

This is exactly my point - its not just dac that matters.

Isn’t ESS ES9068AS MQA Native ? It should be able to do 16X unfolding right ?
Each of this is a Quad DAC itself and when you combine 4x, you are going to have 16DAC lol!!!

100% correct. DAC, amp, power supply and management, UI, tuning, all are important. You could have all of the best of the best components, but if poorly executed, the results will be poor.

Agreed!!! Now, while we have the same views, please share me more details about the power supply, SOC/RAM/AndroidOS as soon as possible !! Also the tubes and what is consisted as hybrid mode ? Tube mode ? Thanks!!

Hopefully not, Ibasso and Fiio do not rest on their laurels... Fiio even upgraded the CPU + RAM of M11 and Ibasso was not content with DX300 so like apple it has to have a Max version. or maybe a Pro Max next?

My guess is that we shall not see an AK SP3000 until the DAC chip problem is sorted out with the supplier after the factory burned down. I imagine AK may wait until the next generation DAC chips are ready for production.

And we can wait with no worries, ak sp2000 is a superb sounding Dap no mater the dac, the power supply etc, that is all bull if the final result (the sound) falls short, from all I had (dx220Max, shanling m8, fiio m15, WM1Z, LPG,etc) IMO sp2000 is ahead in sound and the diference is not subtle

Haha. Its usually when i adjust the volume on wheel and grab screen with my thumb to slide in a pocket. It is a nasty surprise surprise indeed.
