Astell&Kern Launches KANN ALPHA Digital Audio Player

To add, I do enjoy the ESS DAC chip side of the SE200. It is organic and very liquid. The soundstage is not as flat and wide as the AKM side (giving an illusion of transparency) but is more natural and so you get to enjoy depth and layers of the soundstage as well.

Will this player be available to pre-order by the 21st? I looked on the website to purchase it, but it says "Sold Out".

The problem with Astell& Kern's 2.5mm socket is that it is a bit loose in the socket, there is no firm insert unlike the 2.5mm sockets on Fiio DAPs. The looser insert can have more wiggling and movement when plugged in and more susceptible to damage.

But maybe the sockets are like that on AK players because it has something to do with their construction regarding the noiseless feature. AK players are really quiet when it comes to any background noise.
I have the SP2K and I can report the sockets are not lose. They’re as tight as a virgin’s...

But you are able to wiggle them and pull the 2.5mm plug out too easily. It is a big difference from the Fiio sockets, that's for sure.

I’m currently playing my player with the 2.5 socket being used as I type this. I can report there is no wiggle room and the my connection does not come out easily. If anything a little force has to be used to remove the 2.5 jack. My player is about 7 months old and maybe AK made an improvement.

I'm looking to get this since I just splurged on an Abyss Diana V2. :p
I also just got a Diana V2 and I’m super curious about how it matches with the Kann alpha

I just saw the announcement for the Alpha for the first time yesterday and said to myself "too bad it is an A&K so it will not have..........wait a minute (rubbing my eyes).....it has 4.4!"

I plan to use this around the house with my HD800S, which needs some EQ. Bass boost mainly. Will the EQ on this work with the Tidal app?:fingers_crossed: Or only on the proprietary included music player? This is the only info I need to pull the trigger. Thank you.

Can anyone think of any reason to purchase the Kann Cube over the Alpha? I'd only be using the 2.5mm balanced connection. I mainly listen to music at the office, while driving and at home.
