Thank you for the update Jason. I had a question on the Kann Alpha - is the battery replaceable? I love the unit and have been listening to it quite a bit, and a fair amount even plugged in from the line out.
The battery is not user replaceable, but AK offers battery replacement service for a small fee. It would need to be sent into one of AK's authorized service centers for replacement.

The AK Connect app for iOS and Android will also be updated to fix the embedded Tidal issue. The updated apps will be available in the Apple and Google app stores after the player updates.

Though it's not concerning the Kann Alpha .. I had a look on Google advices for the android version, and there too, a lot of complaints with loads of drops while listening music ...

It's nearly 6 months I try to use the Kann Alpha, I could find a more or less stable way to listen to music with my smartphone as permanent wifi access point for the Kann Alpha. But this software really needs to be updated very soon more than just Tidal.

It won't be for me, because, I waited much too long and I don't expect anything anymore from A&K concerning their terrific software, so I will soon probably go to Cayin N6II .. or their next DAP to be announced soon.

For sure, like for many in this thread, I would say the Kann Alpha was my worse experience with a DAP between WM1A, FIIO M11, Hiby R6Pro... 100% due to really poor streaming features => Tidal, Qobuz, DLNA, No BT input, ...

Astell&Kern has identified the issues users are having with the embedded Tidal app. Tidal has changed the authentication method used when logging into third-party Tidal apps. Astell&Kern is working as quickly as possible to make the required changes in the embedded app.

New firmware updates for the SP2000, SP1000, SP1000M, SE200, SE100, SR25 and KANN ALPHA will be released in May 2021, which will contain an updated embedded Tidal app to fix the authentication issues.

There is an issue with the new Tidal authentication policies on the following players – KANN CUBE, SA700, SR15, CT15 and CT10. We are looking into ways to continue to support the Tidal app on these players. More information will be available in May 2021.

Tidal is dropping support for older model Android devices. Unfortunately this means Tidal can no longer be supported on the following players due to the new authentication requirements - AK380, AK320, AK300, KANN, AK70 MKII, AK70, AK240, AK120II, AK100II.

It should. There are issues with the latest Apple Music app release, which does not work on any AK player. I am also experiencing a number of issues with the latest Apple Music app on my Samsung S21+. I assume they will be releasing am app update before they roll out the new tier of service.

It's a really strange way of thinking and strange answer from A&K to hope Apple Music will release a new version ... to please A&K or even Samsung users !!!

I am almost sure that Samsung will react as soon as possible, as usual, to be 100% compatible with any Apple Software.

I know now that A&K won't do anything like for the wifi/akconnect drops for so many users.
What is sure is that Apple does almost every month some improvements in their firmware to please their iphone users .. A&K => never !!!!

I'm sick of all this. Haven't been able to login to tidal for 2 months. I'm going to cancel soon if this doesn't get fixed. Would be great If I could put apple music on the kann alpha, I get apple music included with my phone plan. Hope their new free high res is good and I'm saying goodbye to tidal.

Are you having issues installing or logging into Tidal via the Android app on the KANN ALPHA?

A&K didn’t create Apple Music or the app. It’s Apple who has to fix the issue. The same goes for Samsung. Never company has anything to react to. So I don’t understand why you would thing these companies can fix another company’s software issues.

In fact, Apple is selling their Iphones for more than a decade ..
Apple Music is 100% compatible with iphones and they update their firmware every month to improve them and even give some more features to older iphones.
If Samsung is incompatible, I imagine Apple should be probably very happy to sell some more iPhones in place of any Samsung smartphones :ksc75smile: (I am a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user and I expect Samsung will react before Apple produce a dual screen compatible smartphone, otherwise I will go back Apple to iPhones).
With A&K, nothing seems working fully as services (all the time some features are missing like offline recording or drops while listening far too frequent and really annoying or access to login is just impossible) => Qobuz, Tidal, Apple Music...
I can't imagine Apple and other services will take care of A&K incompatibilities => as they have proprietary almost closed system => definitely it's A&K job to sell proper daps able to function as intended.
