Astell & Kern KANN - DAP with Massive Storage & Battery

The AK daps like the cards formatted in fat32. They don't come that way. If you have the cards still in the dap then go to settings, system information then you'll see the cards listed. Choose the option to erase card for each one. The dap will erase them then format it into Fat32. Then you can just eject them and copy all your music to them in your computer. I know it's a pita but once they are done that way all you have to do is add things the regular way straight to the dap. After writing to the cards the dap will do a rather long scan process but after that it just scans for new tracks upon startup. I learned all this stuff the hard way. Also to stay away from 1tb cards for the time being.

Once I was scanning the market what is available out there I found the Shure SRH1840 a very clean sounding open back HP. I can also recommend Meze Classic 99 as closed HP. They should fit to your budget. But of course, it always depends on your taste.

If the P7 is in good condition, go for it. If you do not like it, you can sell further for this price. Further advantage that you do not even need a cable for that :smile_phones:.

About the sound quality no idea, never heard, but you will be able to judge it yourself.

Is it possible to get parts for KANN? I broke lcd screen. Local service haven't spares and they won't repair out of warranty devices..
Local authorized repair centers are supposed to do screen replacements out of warranty for a small fee. Please feel free to PM me details and I will share with our regional manager.

Due to COVID19, some repair centers may be working at a reduced capacity, which is why they told you that, but that is untrue that you cannot get a repair done out of warranty.

@JasonNYC Any news about an upgraded upgrade for KANN?
In the works, but delayed a bit with the COVID-19 closures and a few outstanding units that were affected by the previous issue. Target was April sometime, but dont have a definite date. I will share when I get more info.
