I don't think the cases with the kickstand have a different opening. They're just a different leather with a kickstand. no other difference, judging from the photos.
I'm 100% sure you're right, the opening looks the same. I'd take the risk and cut it myself. Maybe simply filing away a bit, to make the opening more round. Just don't want to do it to the original case, in case I'll want to sell it later, altough I'm so attached to the 2000T that I doubt I'll ever let the bigger brother go.

I would also support Valentin from Ukraine. His cases seem unique.

Anyway, I did the unthinkable and modded (ruined?!) the original case, the one included in the standard package. In fact, it was already a little bit chipped from some cables. First I thought of simply punching a hole in the edge of the case with one of those special tools I use for punching holes in belts. Surprise, the edge is reinforced with metal. I had to resort to a Dremel, but managed in the end. Those with a strong heart can take a look at the pictures. :)

It's not too bad in the end. The traces you see on the player is just reflections and dirt. I have, obviously, took it out before performing the operation. The edge of the cut is not at all sharp and there is no contact with the surface of the player. I will have to finish the edge of the leather a little better and maybe coat it with some sort of sealant.

For the next player, I would prefer if they keep this in mind and leave a bit more space.

Stay tuned for more ways to damage your cases :)

I think I would have been better off having my cables re-converted by a dealer with a different plug; there are alternatives to plugs on the market.
I can do that myself, but didn't want to. Part of the reason I bought some of these cable is the design. The LL Venom would not be the same without its original plug. And I would never touch the Brise Yatono. Nor let anyone do it. I can always buy another case if needs be. And most probably, I will.

Having played with various combinations of wires and plugs, I find the plug to have a dramatic effect on the sound. Another reason why I don't want to change my cables. And all this for a case with an unfortunate design...not worth it, if you ask me.

But it's fine, I've noted down your negative vote :smile_phones:

When presenting the AK 3000t and other DABs at trade fairs or on the internet, I have often seen a stand being used in which the device stands upright and you can enjoy the cover or the VU meter, with the screen of course in continuous operation.

That would also be a cool thing, but such a stand would also have to offer the option of the data/power cable remaining permanently on the device.

Does anyone know of anything like that?

You'd have to look at USB C cradles or get a 3D printed cradle you can use a 90 angle USB C cable.

One of the strongest qualities a DAP, in general, is to have no connection to an AC power source. I like the case/stand from AK for the reason you just mentioned--using the VU meters with the DAP upright.

I was actually waiting for the holidays to design and 3D print a stand. I'm trying to make something as useful as possible, so if you have any ideas what could be needed, please let me know and I'll try to include them in the design.
For anyone who's interested, I can provide the stl files.
For those in Germany, I can even print it, free of charge , but you'd have to pay the shipping. Or meet up in Munich :).
There are some Al stands on Ali, but I'd prefer something personalized. With a stand for IEMs, for example...

@paramac it is definitively better than nothing :) Thanks for pointing this one out. I can't believe that A&K as a brand can't deliver something like that. I've seen some cases that would allow DAP to stand in almost vertical position, but than you can not connect it a source via USB nor you can charge it. Could't find a place to get those cases in EU either and it would be much more useful than the one you get with SP3000T.

My prototype stand...some improvements have been made already. Feel free to throw any ideas or criticism in.

I could make cutout for the cable in the middle of the base, but since my cables are very stiff, I'm not sure I want them messing up with the base. In the new certain there is no glue and I've added some rods for storing spare eartips.
I've also changed the angle to make the A profile closer to the one in the AK font.

I'll probably get the wooden stand linked above soon. I checked the dimensions of the AK and it looks like it should fit perfectly. For the money, it's practically a gift and doesn't look bad.

I have some of those from ikea. They do the job, but there isn't enough clearance for the USB cable.
I wanted something more than a simple stand, like a module for the amp on the back.
But yes, the bamboo one looks nicer than my prototype.
