Regarding embedded version of Tidal, do you know if A&K is working on a fix to allow display of all tracks from favorite albums or favorite tracks? When you tap on go to full album it will only display one track. The embedded Tidal app does not have the option to download music for offline use due to contractual obligations between Tidal and the record labels prohibiting offline downloads on embedded versions of Tidal. The full Tidal Android app, which can be downloaded in via the download tab, does allow offline music as this app is certified by the record labels. Both versions of the app do full MQA unfolding to the original resolution of the track.
Hello,In order,
NUMBER 1: In my opinion the SQ is much better using directly the SP3000 playback WITH local files (bought at Qobuz or elsewhere). AK is optimized for this because their player has better hardware control than the classic store applications. This is what I prefer, with a preference for DSD formats (max 256 or 512).
NUMBER 2: Qobuz download of my favorite albums or titles. The files downloaded in this way are in 24-bit format minimum and therefore with an excellent SQ level. I never download albums or tracks in CD format and keep them in "streaming" mode.
NUMBER 3 : The stream is always compressed. At TIDAL, the audio file is also compressed with the MQA format. It is not the case on Qobuz, the files are not compressed. However it is necessary to be very careful because even if the audio files are not compressed, the streaming process is compressed. This means that the network stream, which embeds the uncompressed audio file, is compressed. I prefer this reading for the discoveries or for the reading of my favorites albums and titles which are only in CD format, under 24 bits. For the albums and favorite titles above 24 bits I ask Qobuz to download them (see number 2 above).
Yes, I agree with Number 1 but then we are falling in the problems reported here with the AK App.
At least for Classical Music, some discrepancies like accented letters bad management, tracks ordering false (not an issue to rename all the tracks first letters), ‘Chinese‘ characters in the subtitles, <unknown> artists are frustrating.
Claude.
Yes. It is on the list of issues that I have compiled based on the last few pages of posts here. Will update the thread once I have info on timeframe for fixes. Will most likely not see any firmware updates before the end of the year due to the holidays, but would expect early January.Regarding embedded version of Tidal, do you know if A&K is working on a fix to allow display of all tracks from favorite albums or favorite tracks? I think he answered with that in mind, but a better question is: does it allow you toThanks for the response, but can you download music in tidal on the sp3000?
Can you download using the Tidal app and play with the embedded? The embedded Tidal app does not have the option to download music for offline use due to contractual obligations between Tidal and the record labels prohibiting offline downloads on embedded versions of Tidal. I was hoping for way around - so to have integrated GUI for most content/settings etc., I assume this applies to all app? (Apple, Amazon etc?) so the DRM is locked to the app it was downloaded?no, can only play offline music in the downloaded app.
Correct, DRM is locked to the app. Even if you download for offline use, the apps need internet access at certain intervals to check in with the music services servers to confirm you still have a subscription to access that music. That is the case for any music streaming service on any platform. If the music is purchased, then of course, that does not apply.I was hoping for way around - so to have integrated GUI for most content/settings etc., I assume this applies to all app? Why do you want to use the integrated tidal app over the downloaded tidal app? I mean the downloaded tidal app is still pretty good….I was hoping for way around - so to have integrated GUI for most content/settings etc., I assume this applies to all app? I figured the integrated app has more settings/tuning options? Most DAPs don’t have system wide settings for everything. Is everything system wide? Why do you want to use the integrated tidal app over the downloaded tidal app? I mean the downloaded tidal app is still pretty good….
I prefer how the mqa info is presented on the embedded app. Not just a highlited MASTER icon. Why do you want to use the integrated tidal app over the downloaded tidal app? I mean the downloaded tidal app is still pretty good….
Thank you for clarifying Jason. The embedded Tidal app does not have the option to download music for offline use due to contractual obligations between Tidal and the record labels prohibiting offline downloads on embedded versions of Tidal. Thank you my friend! What size did you get? Looks like they have medium and large in stockYes, I have used these on previous SP1K & 2K. I use a Dignis Borsa pouch with integral belt holster when out and about.

I am so impressed with this DAP… I filled a 1TB card from my collection and it’s fascinating how it organized everything into artists and albums, genre, etc. it takes only a few seconds after power up to (I’m guessing here…) scan for changes.
I did find it to be much easier to pop the card out, put it in the Sandisk USB dongle, and plug it into my laptop. When I plugged the SP itself in, I was getting slower copy speed (although still decent) and occasionally the device would disappear. This could easily be an issue with my laptop or with windows 10.
My amazement could be due to the fact that I never had a DAP and started with a $3,600 one
