I've been testing the SP3K for a week with EQ on "normal", intuitive?, bad choice ! ... !!!

By unchecking EQ, the listening finds, to my ears, a great similarity with that of the SP2K.

Apologies for those who read me, and a great relief for me (I would have really missed the nice technical improvements of the SP3K).

Otherwise, the importance of the EQ is there, quite obvious. And even "normal" is not at all benign.

I love my SP3000 and am happy I upgraded, but I honestly don't know what you guys mean by "blacker background". Better separation & layering, soundstage, low end, sure. But it's not like I plug into my SP2000 and hear a strong hiss?

It can but it’s awfully slow to load in folder view. Try formatting in the SP3000. It’s certainly not as good as the SP2000 at reading cards or speed of loading at present. Maybe cos there’s so much information on screen in the various views. Most of which I don’t use.

I agree with you. Noise floor is another term for incidental noise and SP2000 didn’t appear to have any.

This is exactly what you have to do. It has been that way on all AK's I have owned with open services. The other thing to make sure of, for example there are multiple Amazon Music configs on apk, if you choose the wrong one it won't show.

So, since wrong apps don’t show, how do we know if the APK will match with the SP3000 ? I’m thinking for example at the Digital Concert Hall or IDAGIO.

Not sure I see the point of spending so much on a dap with an excellent DAC then just using it as a transport.
I have a Hugo 2 for my streaming set up so did try it. It’s fine but not better than SP3000 solo. No balanced either if that’s an issue.

I know black background means better noise floor. Just saying, I personally can't hear a difference with the SP2000 in that regard, and am skeptical that the difference between -125db and -130db is audible. I love the SP3000 but when I listen to it, I'm not thinking "wow this is so much more quiet!". But anyway that's just me!
