****About Headphones.... I know nothing about IEMs, nor do I read any topics about them****

Maybe its just with headphones...

But the Germans, Austrians and USA certainly have the attention of Head-Fi.

I know when it comes to Audio Equipment, there is no denying that Asia gives Germany and the USA some great competition.

When it comes to R & D in the Audio Industry, you have to be a lunatic to ignore the contributions from Asia, Japan mostly. Though South Korea has done its share.

For example, almost all reviews and suggestions on this forum are among just a few headphone companies, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Grado, Sennheiser and Ultrasone. No Asia here.

Another example, HeadRoom. A Head-Fi sponsor I believe or some affiliation, also do not sell headphones from Asia.

While I realize these headphones are tested and proven to be awsome. And you really can't go wrong with suggesting an amazing pair of phones from AKG...

If this forum is really to explore sound and audio appreciation, its like ignoring an entire continent that has its share of quality gear.

Now I know people do mention some gears from Sony (mostly bashing/insulting) or Audio Technica. I'm pretty sure there are others.

Well this is not a complaint. I'm a newbie to this. Who am I to critique this great forum. I really do enjoy hanging in this forum.

Just an observation.

PS: Did notice in that last few months I'd say, Denon seems to get some recognition with their new Headphone series. And JVC once in a blue moon with their "Bentley" headphones (I don't know the model number)

Edit: Looking back on the forum topics, and using search... Seems maybe there was more attention to phones coming out of Asia in the past. But recently its like they are forgotten.

I'm person above. mbd2884 just doesn't seem right in this forum. Sorry for bumping my own topic, but didn't want to create new topic for just this hello.

You should contact one of the mods, and have them update your user ID. I think (not exactly positive) having more than one user ID is grounds for a forum-ban.

When a chinese manufacturer decides to export a good headphone... I'm all for it. Like Head-Direct / Yuin for example. Good sound, is good sound regardless of country of origin.

Hi Ruckus! I'm confused! But that's ok. Welcome to Head-Fi!

Well; what the heck; guess I'll make a couple comments on the subject while I'm here.

I don't know why it is that there aren't more cans from Asia mentioned. I do know that lots of the European and US manufacturers have a number of their cans made for them in Asia. Equation Audio is a great example. They're a US company who has their phones designed in the US but manufactured in China. They've been getting lots of good attention here lately.

There are also tons of electronics made there. Amps and CD players and all the rest; so there's no concious effort to exclude the Orient that I can see. If there are more phone manufacturers that we should be made aware of, I'm sure lots of us would like more information about them.

Asian sources and amps have had a huge impact on head-fi, especially without charging insane prices.

Headphones though, I couldn't really tell ya. If you want to have me spreading around the good word for homegrown Asian headphones, throw something out that can compete directly with SR225's

I used to check out www.erji.net all the time but no longer. They used to allow Google translations but no more.

x2... I was thinking of erji.net.

Did anyone happen to listen to that chinese electrostat Fang had at headfest? It looked like an HE90, with more wood accents on the headband. So.. there certainly are high end headphones throughout China/asia.

I changed my post to be more responsive to one of the issues related to the OP's post. About us ignoring that part of the world which became closed to me when they no longer allowed Google translations. Those translations were not great but I could eek out some interesting stuff anyway.

Don't forget about STAX, and all those rebranded made-in-Japan CX300 / EP-630/etc. The high end earbuds' market is basically dominated by Asian companies (AT + Yuin) now. In fact, there are more Asian made headphones being recommended at HF now than when I first joined the forum, who say Asia 'phone is being ignored? Even amp forum has a tons of discussion about Chinese amp like Little Dot...

hmm,

if you, like you said (OP), are a newbie at this stuff..
how do you even know if Asian manufacturer are being mentioned often or not?

They do get mentioned.. and as you can tell, there are much more reputable headphone makers from non-Asian countries.

that of course is because there are many other countries other than Asia.

Beside, many of Chinese and Japanese headphone users (well, actually the general public too) don't really bother joining/posting in forums that ain't in their native language.
