Artists, please share with us your latest works. Anything is welcome: paintings, sculpture, charcoal, digital, etc. If your work is not digital, please list the size and materials used.

Here are a few of my most recent paintings. My apologies for the sunspots but I don't have the luxury of getting pics with those nice Tungsten setups at school anymore.

Acrylic on Canvas - 30" x 40"

Acrylic on Canvas - 2' x 4'

Acrylic on Canvas - 2' x 4'

Something that you can't really appreciate from the pictures is that these paintings use a host of additives like ceramic stucco, resin sand and mortier sable to build up texture and protruding areas. I like my paintings to be as interesting to touch as they are to look at

@ HiGHFLYiN9 --> I like your style, especially the first two pieces.

I've been doing amateur sketching since I was 11. All of my pieces are vehicular systems set in a sci-fi model future universe. When I came up with an idea for a sci-fi novel I wanted to try writing, this ended up being the easiest way for me to take notes. Anyhow, here's a small sample of what's in my portfolio:

All of my sketches are done with mechanical pencil and 0.5 mm 2HB lead on std. notebook sized lined paper.

Indeed, very cool stuff! You should get yourself a sketchbook, that way you could more easily archive all your designs. I used to draw futuristic cars and layout the engine and transmission. Your drawings reminded me of that a little bit. I'm very fond of the helicopter one and the large one in the center, the level of detail is excellent. I can imagine these in a side scrolling shooter

Thanks, the compliment is much appreciated

The third one is pretty different from my usual fare. All three are a long process of doing a single layer, letting it dry, and then going back to it a few days later. The one in the middle took a couple of months due to the intricacies of the layers. Mood dictates the colors usually.

Nice job everyone.
WOW. appophylite very nice sketches, but why on notebook paper? It doesn't do it justice.

My peice:

Thank You! I actually have been planning on moving over to using a sketchbook, especially because I no longer carry around notebooks conveniently anymore. I actually want to snag a large drawing pad as well, for some larger sketches I have ideas for. I've been thinking of a vellum pad because the paper seems rather thick, but if you have any other paper type recommendations, they'd be very appreciated.

The time you put into your work definitely shows, and like I said before, they are some amazing pieces.

Thank You! I've been told several times to work on blank paper. The only reason I stuck with lined notebook paper is because I started doing my sketches with two friends in India, and we used to work out of our school notebooks during free time. When I got to High School, sketching was a great way to pass time in class when I was bored, and again, since school notebooks were conveniently on hand, I just worked out of them through High School and later through college. I do mean to switch over to clear paper though.

@HiGHFLYiN9: Great stuff you do there.

Done by my 6 year old son. He has a slight autistic handicap and does not speak much, but he cares a lot about details and proportions.

This is, without reservation or sentimentality or BS, my favorite of them all. I really think it is great and interesting. There is symmetry, but it is just asymmetrical enough to become complex and, as a result, meaningful. There is conflict and one of my favorite things about art is conflict.

The first name that comes to mind is Joan Miro.

An example of Miro's work:

Damn, I was also thinking of Miro when I saw that picture.

I don't think of myself as an artist as such, but here are a few of my fractals.

Solar Flare (Flarium 24)

Gift Wrapped (Sterling V-06)

This is an image created in Photoshop by merging a fractal with a picture of a rose after a rain, using a variety of masking, cloning, and blending techniques, along with some plug-in filters.
