....I can't go back to my 'budget' IEMs....in the same price range. The bass, soundstage and imaging is just tons better and I can keep my ears warm too...any cure for this?

Indeed, IEMs are a major crux in terms of justifying the price : performance ratio.

However, I personally find that AKG model awkward, because listening to Coltrane, it sounds like he got his key signature all screwed up.

It suits my music very fine though (trance/dance, euro, happy hardcore and the likes)....perhaps because I need to step up the chain a bit to see its flaws?

Ha - I somehow sense a continuing trend here.

Sorry about your wallet

Oh the SCL4's are great, but not AKG K81-sound, that's for sure

You might want to take a look at the Atrio's or even the Super.Fi 5EB. Those are the only IEM's with that much bass

Bonthouse - second the Atrios, but don't forget the X10s

@ OP - As a happy owner - there is great bass, and not even over powering (like I hear some find the Atrios) not sure how they got it out of an IEM. Search through threads if you don't believe me

Yeah this is why I still use them, too. Sometimes it's nice to have that level of ultraportability.
