Hello !

I'm looking for Mullard M8100 on eBay. I notice that on some of them, I can read "Mullard", but I can't read it on some others M8100. I remember having read on Headfi that if "Mullard" is not wrtitten on it, then it's probably a fake. When I ask to the seller, he answer : "These are definatly mullard, these were produced for military use so there is no need for the mullard logo print."

What you think about it ? Could you help clarify this thing ?

Viewing a thread - Mullard M8100 tubes $3.56 each!!!!!!! here in the U.S.

Call AES, and if they have them in stock, I'm sure they'll ship up North. They're real. I have a pair from them.

MULLARD made a military version of the M8100 for the British Aviation Ministry: it was given the designation CV4010, "CV" standing for Common Valve, the British military prefix for all their valves. I have both MULLARD M8100s - some are marked PHILIPS as they took over MULLARD - and CV4010s, and while the former are clearly marked, the latter are not marked with any manufacturer, but simply the CV4010 number.

I know this is an old thread, but I got excited and had to reply. I have a pair of the brand-unlabeled milspec CV4010 tubes in my Little Dot MkIII and can pretty much guarantee they're genuine Mullards. They sound about 10x better than the stock tubes and have lasted longer. The label reads as follows:

000-4010
CV4010
KQDD/K
80-10

Nothing else is printed on the tubes. I bought these on ebay two years ago from a guy in GB who also sells a lot of the Mullard branded M8100s.

If I have the choice the next time I go to purchase driver tubes for this amp, I'll probably select CV4010s over M8100s.

Now if I could just make up my mind on a replacement power tube...
