Are these speakers good for me

Hey everyone, I'm going to be moving into an apartment in the fall up at college, and was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of specs I should be looking for when trying to find good, cheap, used speakers through craigslist? I want them to be good for playing music at parties in the apartment, but also for leisure listening. I am willing to build a DIY amp/preamp if that will help too. Thanks everyone

Yeah, but what should I be looking for, in the specs, that would say they'd be good for pumping out music for parties and such?
