Hello All;
Thank you for this forum.
My brother in law, who lives in a foreign country, has a box with many AKG Headphones, model K150. Here's a pic of one I brought with me from my last trip:

Are these worth anything

? I can't guess how old they are (70s??)but here's all I can find on the box:

Made in Austria.
2232 P0102.
K150, 600 ohm.

As picture shows, they come with warranty (

) and all paperwork. Look like if they have any value, they maybe collector item, or they may still sound OK. I have bought a RadioShack phone plug (the headphones came bare in the box from the factory) but I have not installed it yet.

Any advice/info/comment is really appreciated.
Kal.

I don't know to be honest. I can wire the phone plug and try them out on my stereo system and/or ipod. Unfortunately I don't have any other over-the-head phones to compare them to, so I'll have to make a qualitative judgment, or compare them to my $100 in-ear headphones.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will PM Fitz with a link to here.
Cheers!
K.

Don't throw em out, put em on ebay for 9 bucks BIN and they'll probably sell. I'd get one anyway.

Throwing away vintage headphones is against the law.

Yeah, I know it hurts, but they are in a foreign country and I would have to transport them back to the US in my ever shrinking suitcase. OK, I'll promise this, I'll try. Perhaps what I can do is flatten the boxes, and then re-assemble them here on this end before I post on eBay. If this will happen, it will likely be end of November though.
Thank you for your input, it helps to know that these are not completely worthless.
Cheers.

I have too have a pair of K150's in mint condition. I took them the other day to the local Hifi Store as they are known for having the widest variety of AKG headphones. Both guys who run that place had to reach down for their jaws as they dropped them while listening to these babies.

Bottom line: These ARE most likely worth more than just "something". Just make sure you take them to a serious Hifi store, preferably someone who has been in the business for a while.

I would buy them if you put them out at sub $20 level, I have serious budget constraints and the only reason I am on this site is cuz i got some hd555s for $5 (no joke).
