It turns out that many of the apple stores have a Shure "demo kit" which has one of each model in it so you can do side by sides. I found they all sounded different, but consistently sounded like "Shure IEMs." So I feel confident that my comparison of the SE210s against the Bose has some merit.

This is really helpful information about the demo kits at the Apple store. Thanks for sharing it!!!

I've heard the SE110, and frankly, they're not worth the money even discounted to US$80. That's why I jumped on the deal to get the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio at US$50 from Costco.com and it's definitely worth the money once I started to use the foam eartips.

How does the Super.fi 3 compare to the ER6i? Can an iPOd drive it? I have an Altec IM716. I recabled because the oem one broke. It doesn't sound the same. I am now looking for new IEMs.

ER6i are more detailed, both are better balanced, super fi3 doesnt tax you as much for lower quality mp3 recordings. I personally prefer the ER6i to the SF3, but the super fi 5 pro's are great.

The Super.fi 3 works really well with my 3G iPod nano--it's actually pretty efficient (you don't need to crank up the volume level to get decent sound quality).

I didn't even know they had a demo kit until the manager said "ya know we have a kit in the back that we never use" and then he brought it out. It had all these disposable foam tips in a bag for one time customer use to be sanitary. Pretty cool deal actually.
