Pioneer SE-MONITOR10R

$65 at Etronics..

I think these are closed (which I want, badly). How much do these isolate?

How do they compare against

Audio Technica ATH-A500
Sony MDR-V6
Sennheiser HD280Pro

These will potentially be used for my portable (for lawn mowing), but the main purpose is a home phone.

THANKS

Depends on how you pronounce 'Pioneer' and whether your lips are burnt-in.

Man..I don't want this whole thread to be closed (like some of your recent threads) because of that remark!

I don't mean to change focus here, but the closed headphones you mentioned are all tried and true without too much of a price variation from the 65USD price tag you mentioned for the Pioneer. Why would you go elsewhere?

Why? Here's why..

$65 isnt my price range.

The A500 is in serious consideration, the Pioneer is just a comparison.

V6 and Classical music arent synergistic

HD280 = Not enough mid-bass

they have bigger cups than the v6. they have better clamp and so isolate better than the v6. i havent use the other two phones.

this headphone probably prefer a good home source over a portable player. the upper treble really shine on these , they are extended and create a good imaging. smooth mids, maybe a bit colored low mids. only the bass was what i wanted improve, its sort of flows but doesnt punch deep. maybe a good home amp can solve that, i only used it with a supermini amp connected to a pcdp.

they have a removable coiled cord that can stretch up to 15ft.

i'm glad someone is interested in my phones.

edit: if you want to listen to these with classical music it is a good choice.
