The iM716 uses the same drivers as the ER4, so it should sound the same. But it's at a lower price, so are there any differences?

the drivers are Similar to the ER4-P drivers, some people say they sound better then the ER4-P, but worst then the ER4-S (P is for portable, lower impendance so does not require amping, but they are less refined and detailed due to that issue),

theres another issue with the iM716 that makes then undesirable, Altec lensing, the company that makes them under license from Etymotic has canceled their contact with Etymotic becuase Etymotic is coming out with their own gaming range called EDGE acustics, so the iM716 are going to be discontinued, meaning that the filter tips are going to become harder and harder to find, theres a thread about it if you use the search,

the new altec lensing "high end gaming headphones" are going to be rebadged Ultimate ears Metro.fi 2 and Super.fi 3,
