I've been reading some of the threads just to see how others feel about the 250's. It's been a year since I bought these phones and I still like the sound. The highs are a little rolled off which is good because i found the higher frequencies to harsh with other headphones. Are the dt-250's still ranking high on many peoples list of favorite headphones?

If you refer to the DT250/80, I'm not much of a fan - exactly due to its recessed highs. I like the DT250/250 much better, which sounds fairly neutral and well extended to me. There's only a slight midrange nasality compared to the DT531, probably because of the closed construction...

At DT250/250 price, it's very hard to beat.
There's better closed phone around, but at a much higher price.

Hmm... To me they sound like a shiny MDR-V6... with a huge void between the bass, and the treble...

...although, to be fair... the audition I had wasn't neccesarily with the best equipment...

I would refrain passing judgement on phones I heard for 5 minutes at a meet on a bad system as well. Sorry, I just can't find (or would that be can't not find) the missing midrange you speak of.

It's one of my favorites. In fact, I'd use it before I'd use an HD-600. Can't toss up much more of an unpopular opinion than that.

ops~~
I think I have to clear it a bit, I have never heard ultrasonehfi-650 so I have no idea. But I like DT250/250 a lot.
I was comparing with ATH-A500, Sony V6, Sony D66, Senn HD280. And I was using Fisher 400 with DT250.

...Okay... I'll retract what I said ~ in part...

Comparing the HFI 650 to the Beyer DT250-80, Sony CD1700 and Audio Technica ATH-A1000s I found the midrange to be lean on the HFI 650s... then again, i'm a bit of a midrange addict ~ one of the reasons for liking the Grado RS1s over many of the other 'phones that I have...

...So whilst the claim that they are like MDR-V6s may indeed be a little unfounded... they didn't have enough midrange to keep me happy...
