Are the Denon AH-C551 worth over Sennheiser?

After a bit or research and help I am getting one of these:
- Sennheiser CX95 at £39.99 (47.3 euros / 59.2 dollars)
- Denon AH-C551 at £62.10 (73.5 euros / 91.9 dollars)

So my question is: are the Denon AH-C551 worth the extra 22,11 pounds (26,2 euros / 32,7 dollars) over the Sennheiser CX95?

Thanks.

P.s. I came up with these two earphones as I like powerful bass.

id take the cx95 as they are actually a pretty good set of sennheiser in ears. wheras the denons are good but you will always have only the middle of the road phones, in other words you will always wonder why you didnt save for the c751's.

Yep...I started to look at cheaper earphones, and then I was in the madness mentality of "Oh, well, those are better and costs just 10 bucks more"...and I ended with the CX 95. :p
I guess that I should stop and just go for these Sennheiser...otherwise I'll end up spending 500 bucks or more without even knowing (lol).

Thanks for the reply!

Erm...I'm not sure what jinx means, but I'd rather have a mid-level Ferrari than a top-tier Honda. Besides, buying the 95s won't stop you from upgrading...it might stop you from upgrading within a brand, but we jump from brand to brand all the time. Heck, you might upgrade from the 95s to the 551s!<shrug>

I liked the 551s better than the 95s if every way, though I think at your prices, you should go for the 95s.

So if money wasn't put in the equation, you would say that I should get the Denon AH-C551, right?

(unfortunately I cannot get the CX 95 at that price anymore --> they cost £53 now...so there's only a difference of £9 between the 95s and 551s)

I don't quite understand what he means too, so when you get the cx95 you wouldn't be wondering why you didn't save for the IE6?

I got the CX95 for £39.99 before the price changed. At first I was underwhelmed. I found them to be a bit muddy and not hugely superior to other cheaper earphones I have lying around (e.g. an old pair of CX300).

However, with the combination of burn in and getting used to them I now enjoy them quite a lot. Because they don't sit deep in the ear I find them very comfortable yet they still seem to give fair isolation.

In terms of sound they dont excel in any area but then they don't let themselves down either. This gives an easy to listen to and balanced feel. The bass is obviously quite strong but I dont find it to be overly boomy as with the CX300.

Im no expert, I have only owned a few budget earphones (EX-71, CX300, X3, X3i, PL-30 and CX95) and have never tried the denons. Here is another opinion on these earphones from a forum member and here is a review that prefers the CX95 in most cases.

Also note that if you go via amazon they link to 4 shops where you can still get the CX95s for around £40.

I've just bought a pair of Denon C751's - got them yesterday (obviously, the model above the C551's). Found them at £79.99! Very pleased with them so far

My prefered genre of music favours good punchy bass and low bass response and I find these very good and offer the sound I want. Might be worth alook at if you can stretch your budget a tad.

I was about to say the 551's will probably be better, but the 751's are a step above them.

I got mine the other day and tested them after burning them in for a day (although now I've gotta wait till christmas till I get them properly) and was quite underwhelmed. I found them bright and fatuiging, and the bass was barely there.

They had improved after the 20 hours, but they still weren't brilliant.

I hope its just that I'll have to give them another 24 hours or so to fully burn in.

What do you think of yours?

I just found an awesome deal for the CX55 for 55$ USD. Any opinions on these? Are they better than CX500? How much worse than CX95?
