Are the AKG K7XX a good replacement for the Beyerdynamic T90s?

My T90s are on their way out, and I'm looking for a replacement. Are the K7XX's a good replacement for them? Would there be a big drop/gain in overall quality? Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

I don't know. But you might ask here to see if one of the K7XX owners can compare them for you :)

The K7XX are really good for their price ($200).
So I'm assuming your not wanting to spend the cash ($500-$650) for a replacement T90s?
Can't think of any headphone I would recommend, over the K7XX, for a $200 price.
Unless you do not have a decent headphone amplifier to drive the K7XX, then I would recommend the 40-Ohm ATH-AD900X.

The 62-Ohm K7XX might be a little more power hungry, then the 250-Ohm T90, what are you using to drive headphones?

I've never listened to the T90s, but i do own and use the T70s.
I'm guessing you might lose a slight bit in clarity.

What about fixing up your current T90?

Edit, just compared my T70 to the K7XX, listened to the group 2002.
The K7XX seems to be just as good sounding as the T70s.
Not sure how much the T70 and T90 differ.

My T90s have some kind of rattling in the left ear cup whenever I play music over around a quarter volume on my amplifier.

Check the insides of the cup for foreign objects, might be as simple as a hair messing up the sound.
Might try a can of pressurized air, to clean out the insides of the cups.

Contact Beyer-dynamics or a company called Sound Surgeons, which does the headphone repair in the USA.
Any chance the T90s are still under warranty?
For the T90, it cost $120 to replace a single driver (thru Sound Surgeons).
