Hi, on a recent thread I requested recommendation for the best over-ear headphones to perform rock genres which are the genres I listen to most: classic rock, progressive, hard rock, heavy metal, alternative and indie rock, comtemporary metal. But if possible, performing well too other genres such as classical, film scores, jazz, electronic & ambient of Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno style because first and foremost I'm a fan of good quality music. I. e. headphones for rock and hard rock but good-sounding for softer genres.
Some people have suggested me the Aeon Flows but I'm not quite sure if they're suitable for hard rock. If they aren't, what other alternatives can you recommend for up to $800/€800 roughly?
I think I'd like them to be warm and bass-heavy though I'm not quite clear this is the right description for the sound signature I'm looking for. Either closed or open backs, though I have no experience with open backs (Which are better for the sound sig I've mentioned?).
My current equipment is iDSD Micro BL, iCan SE and X7 Mark II (I use it as both a dap and a computer dac).
Thanks in advance.

You already know my opinion from the previous thread... both Aeon HPs are very versatile.

Unusually, it's the open version that is warmer/bassier compared to the leaner closed. I normally don't like warm HPs, but the AFO has a "romantic" nature that I can't really describe (I'm borrowing the term from Tyll at Innerfidelity's review).

If you are unsure of the sound signature you're after, you really should demo a few before buying. I actually find the process of A/Bing high quality headphones for an hour quite therapeutic :) I suppose I'm lucky to have a nearby HP store without aggro sales people.

What about T1? Isn't it good for classic rock and metal?

I used to own the T1 and found it to be downright bad for metal.Great for psychedelic trance though.
I found the AFC to be a bit bass light,or what others call "neutral"

HD650
Meze Neo Classic
HE-500
K240 sextett EP/MP

Are all headphones Ive tried within your price range that i liked for metal & rock.

EDIT:Have you tried asking in the metal thread? Youre likely to get many of the same answers, but it cannot hurt.

I remember your post on my earlier thread. Though it was very heplful I wasn't quite sure that the Aeons are well suited for hard rock.
