Hey guys I'm thinking about picking up a pair of a900's to use for gaming mainly, I was wondering if they are good for it? I know most of you guys here use your headphones mostly for music, but I use mine mostly for gaming. For those of you who have gamed on them, how do they sound? Also how is the sound positioning? I am using an audigy 2 zs for my soundcard. THanks

I will know that on Monday-wensday when I have tested them on the setup card you have. I will test it on Act of War beta, and some other games

well.. A900s+3D audio=wall hack..... nuff said.. you also get the + that they are awesome for music(best headphones in their price range IMHO) and they're easy to drive, so if you are planning to listen to music, to get high quality audio you just need to get an AV-710 and download foobar.. You'll be set, and your ears will thank you for it

. Hope that helps

Well I was all excited today thinking I was gonna order them tonight then I come on here and I see people are saying they have bad mids and aren't good for rock music so I wasn't so sure. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with them though. I was originally planning on getting hd580's but I think the a900's will suit my musical/gaming tendencies better, at least I hope they will

Does that mean you pulled the trigger and ordered them?

I'd be interested in reading your thoughts on their performance with games. Particularly FPS games.

Nope I haven't pulled the trigger yet lol, hopefully soon though. I'm in high school so I'm waiting for my dad to get back from his business trip (He's in puerto rico) so that I can order them. I'll let you guys know what I think when I get them though

The 900 is a head above the 580 with rock and a leap ahead driven from a soundcard.

i use my A700 for playing cs. Yes, it is too great. I hear every footsteps(all directions!) and drops of bullets very clearly. In my opinion you don't need a900 for gaming. Try a search about a500 or cheap full-sized KOSS headphones.

Yes, they are good for gaming, but if you don't really care about music production, you'd be better off saving your money by going with the ATH-A500s.

Oh don't get me wrong, I care about music, it's just that I play games more than I listen to music. But that's partially because my headphones now are terrible so I don't really want to listen to them.

a900s are the ridiculous wall hacking machines.

once you get used to the sound of it you know exactly when someone is going to pop around the corner.

then of course you can promtly put an AK bullet in his head

Really, any working headphones are good enough for gaming. a good pair of headphones will not help you hear the audio aids better, provided the headphones are working, are loud enough, are stereo, and outside noise is not an interference. I used to use a pair of stock panasonic headphones playing in competitive leagues, absolutely no difference between that and Senn HD580s or Sony V6.

its cuz you don't have a900s
biggrin.gif

like my e2cs and my d66s aren't as good but then again they aren't known for their nice imaging and soundstage
biggrin.gif

and you don't have to have good sound to be good at video games there are plenty of other factors as well

, but it sure makes the game more fun

Not true. Headphones with better soundstaging will give you more accurate enemy placement. My Senn HD590's have pretty good soundstaging, and I use them for gaming precisely because of that - and I play Q3 competitively. They're miles ahead of my old HD500's (yeah, i know

) and definitely give an edge.

Gotta agree with crazyfrenchman though - the A500 is 80% of the A900, and is nearly identical as far as gaming goes, so I'd go with that unless you've got your mind set. However, if you've also got a good source lying around for music purposes (I don't know of any soundcard that is good both for music and games), then by all means get the A900. With well-recorded music, the extra detail and instrument separation is well worth the cost.
