just recently my headphones have been acting strangly
i have senn HD497's and there is no sound coming out of the left side of them
im using them on my computer where its always been fine and i know the volume balance is set correctly so its not all to the right

i managed to swap the L wire to the right side and the R wire to the left side and now there is only sound coming from the left headphone

now im almost 100% sure the problem is with the cable, its attached correctly and ive tried taking it out and putting it back in, ive also tried switching to another source and the same thing happens

is there any way to replace the cable? it appears that the cable splits to L and R sides of the headphones and they need to be a special shape to fit into the headphones

or do i just have to replace my headphones altogether?

Hmm...

The cable, have you trodden on it / snagged it so far as you know? - On my old HD565, I trod on the cable, and snapped the hair thin cable inside the diapraghm... luckily I got on well with my local dealer at the time, and he sent them off for a warranty repair, even though they were well out of warranty

I had the same problem with my HD600 cable. I've seen a lot of similar reports about the Senn cables. They appear to be very fickle.
