Are full sized headphones commonly used in your countries in public places?

I was wearing the Eggos at the public library-study hall and I think I was getting strange looks. It seems that in my country full sized headphones are not really popular for portable use.

I noticed almost all people in the hall were wearing earbuds. Usually cheap ones. So the eggos looked kind of weird. Even a friend looked at me weird and he said, "big headphones" or smthng. Anyhow it gets pretty hot here in Greece this time of the year. Maybe thats the reason we dont like such headphones.

Are full sized headphones (or smaller ones like eggos) usual in your coutries?

maybe the climate does effect the headphone. i need a close and fullsize headphone for the cold winter here in newyork. i think i see a fair amount of variation of earbuds and overhead. some midsize and fullsize, which are more often seen with teenagers (me).

most people dislike the weight and clumsiness of big headphones. i was going to let my bro borrowed my sony v6 on his plane trip. but he wore it and said he prefer the freebee that came with his cd player.

i look like a king nerd when i wear my eggo d66.

It seems like at the airport, any size is fine in the US. I see a lot of people with big crappy phones that are probably being used to block out the outside noise. Eggos do look pretty funny though

No, but there are Streetstyles everywhere and the random Sony dj or Koss full-sized phones. I saw Bose Triports a few times. But in American High Schools, there is no escaping the Sony Streetstyle.

I've occasionally seen the Philips HP-910s at the library here at Stanford. I also saw a guy wearing some full sized phones (either hd-280s or dj-v600s, can't remember which) to exams... Our library also loans out Sony CD-180s and V-150s to students... so those abound. But they're certainly not full sized. I wonder what reaction I'd get if I wore my HP-890s.....

since i've started to hang out with the HD600/DT880 outdoors in israel, it seems that more people goes with full size headphones outsides. just a few, but it happens. these slik silver senns (can't remember the model, they come in black too) are the more popular, and most people wouldn't wear much bigger.
yeah, you're still getting the looks sometimes, but as long as it's not too much, it's fine.

At my school (New Mexico Institutite of Mining and Technology) I've seen a few full size headphones, but not many. All that I've seen were Sony, though I don't know what particular type. Earbuds and small, streetstyle-type headphones are more common.

Other than very isolated incidents, I almost never see full size headphones on people outside of college campuses around here. In fact, the last (first, too) time I wore my SR60s out, I think I got laughed at. (Maybe it wasn't me... but the timing was quite convenient).

It seem that the majority of the people I see wearing full sized phones in London seem to be the 'cutting edge' of fashion. The phones are nearly always low-end DJ crap (I'm seeing a lot of those Behringers... I wonder what they're like?) and almost always silver, but they have the style that goes well with the phones. I also see a surprising number of HD25-1's which sort of border on full-size phones, which means that the battle of sound quality versus style is not yet lost. In terms of other full sized phones, I also see quite a number of V700's, and a while ago I saw someone wearing one of those awful Pioneer HDJ-1000... which I have to say looked good on him. If your style goes a certain way (and you're young), then large phones are clearly in.

Unfortunately when a late 30's Head-Fi member starts wearing A-T's out and about, this is NOT the cutting edge of fashion. This is merely advanced geeking.

You also get some idiots. I was standing next to a guy wearing a pair of HD600's not so long ago. On the Tube. A high-noise environment. I'd be interested to hear what, if anything, he was hearing. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a Head-Fi member concealing an amp and a classic PCDP.

Sadly, unfortunately, no. Stock phones are the norm here. (Midwest) I've seen some Koss in public, and one pair of v100s. I love going out with my HD 280s. The looks I get are classic

I just smile and nod, happy in the knowledge that I'm in audio heaven, while they're floundering about (albeit with more money than I) in crap.

Most people here use the earbuds (the stock ones i suspect) and I used to be one of those, but that will all change after Head-Fi

It's almost only teenagers that you see wearing the big headphones, like bangraman has noticed, and it actually does compliment their style well in some cases. I am too much of a newcomer to this forum that I have noticed which headphones they are wearing.
The streetstyle sony headphones seem to be the pick of many, I guess they want better sound than their stock earbuds, or perhaps greater comfort, but don't want to mess up their hair.

I regularly see full size headphones here in the lower mainland. Usually females wearing Sony MDR-V... In fact, on my lunch today I saw three different women wearing full size headphones. I see PortaPro's quite often as well. Mind you, they're not as big as HD600's but it's a start! I've worn HD580's, RS-1's, and HP-2's here at work, and people are very interesting in hearing them.

In my country? No, because we are so poor!

My country is so poor, we have only one Stooges! And he has to hit himself!

My country is so poor, our chief export is bums!

My country is so poor, we have only a part-time king!

My country is so poor, we depend on foreign aid from Haiti!

My country is so poor, all the roads are one-way: out!

My country is so poor, we have jeebies but no heebie!

My country is so poor, in our zoo all we have is ants!

My country is so poor, the clocks don't tell time, they ask it!

My country is so poor, we were forced to eat our cash cow!
