Well I been using my computer as a source for quit some time now(Emu 0404)...I really want to hear my redbook cd's for the way they where recorded, and been listening to them mainly on my PCDP's (D33 &D36)

With my Headfive shipping today, I want to make sure that I have a decent enough source to amplify, I know I should of thought about that sooner. I have basically sitting in my closet my old Technics 5 Disc (SL-PD888) from around 1998, and I have a spare DVD player that I do not use Pioneer DV333.

I just moved and inbetween jobs right now, so I will need to wait a little bit befor I can fork money out for another player. Are any of the above worth using for now with the Headfive, or should I just continue with my PC as source since I have a decent sound card?

Also what CD players (used probally) should I keep an eye out for on audiogon & eBay, I really don't want to spend more then a $200-$300 for a used unit.

..::EDIT::..
Well I just hooked the Technics up to my Govibe-4 (RCA to mini) =>Beyer DT231 and it sounds pretty good....but then again I've never listened to a high end player.

Since you already have two sources give them a try. Then as you settle into your new job you can save to get a good source.

If you compromise with a mediocre source you would not be happy. Which means that in a short while it would be in your closet not being used.

Well after an hour of listening to the Technics, I hooked up the Pioneer DV333, and I think I will stick with using a dvd player as my cdp source for now, seems to have a bit more of an open sound and not as dark as the Technics.

After pokin around google for a bit I think I may save up for the NAD C521BEE I found it at an autorized dealer for $299 so it's right in my budget

According to NAD's website in order for the warranty to be valid it has to be purchased at an authorized dealer
