Hi,
I owned a Philips HP170 and it has a adapter plug. Today, I bought a Sony MDR-v6 from someone that doesn't have the adapter plug. I am wondering if all adapter plugs are the same? Does better adapter plug give better sound quality? I just want to see if I should reuse the adapter plug from HP170 on the MDR-v6 without degrading the sound quality of MDR-v6.

Thanks.

The V6 isn't the most revealing heahpone and any change would be really microscopic if any. I've used different plugs on my V6 and didn't hear any difference.

Don't know the 170 plug, but probably agree with lan. One physical difference likely will be how they connect. Most clip on. Many of the Sony's (including the V6), have a screw on system called, I think, "uniplug". It's a little more secure, but won't work on other phones (because the connection is deeper inside). Other phones plugs will work fine on the Sony though. The screws just show. I have both types and when I need one for the V6, I don't even look to see which it is.
