How does the CD-73t compare with some of the other budget players out there? Is it in the same league as say, the Rotel 1070, NAD C542, or Cambridge Audio Azure 640C? Would all of these players make decent transports if I wanted to add a DAC later?

The arcam CD 73t is a very nice player for the money. I have heard it compared to the two lower end NAD players and it is unmistakenly superior in my opinion. I don't think you can go too wrong with this. I'm sorry, I can't say from personal experience how it compares to the other players mentioned. Honostly, I don't trust my audio memory enough to venture an opinion about such differences unless I have heard them back to back with the same electronics and speakers. Actually, I don't know how anyone can say too much unless this has been the case, though it often doesn't seem to stop them.
