Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and have a question that I couldn't answer after much research. I hope you can help me.

It's about Bluetooth and the codecs.

I bought the Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless and have an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

After a long research and choosing the headphones, I found out that iPhones only use AAC.

Hence the question. Is aptx hd much better than aac? Can you hear the difference and would it be worthwhile to switch back to Android?

I'm interested in your answers!

greetings

Tom

AptX HD much better than AAC and do I hear difference? I don't think so, you won't even notice any difference if blindtesting.
I have the Amiron Wireless too and as long as it sounds damn good, I'm happy with that. You can also use the Amiron Wireless wired, so zero latency.

Yes. I avoid AAC at all costs.

If you have an iPhone the only choices or AAC or SBC (which is worse than AAC), so there's no real avoiding AAC unless you simple don't use an iPhone for Bluetooth

As for the question of whether AptX HD is better than AAC. In a technical sense it supports higher bitrates. Does that mean it actually sounds better? That's harder to say. Some people will say they hear a difference, but a lot of that might be device dependent, not to mention very subjective. So you might notice a difference if you move from an iPhone to an Android phone and use AptX HD and you might not. It's really impossible to say for sure

I have been using SBC on my iPhone. I feel like some albums sound great with AAC, and some don't. I'm not sure why. I'll switch back to AAC for awhile and see what I think. I also use AptX HD on my android tablet. I definitely like that the best with my CD rips. I just don't use the tablet while traveling.
