We are taking notes on the feedback so we can bring it to AT.

Personally I think the purple cable is silly -- though I'm curious whether the braided cable cuts microphonics (which were already minimal)-- and the gold is unnecessarily blingy. But the ATH-R70X has always been primarily about transparent sound and comfort, so...let's see the graph!
The impedance is pretty brutal, but they are quite efficient. They're also pictured with a Magni Piety, so maybe not that bad in terms of power requirement?
I have run my ATH-R70X, same impedance, with Schiit Magni 3 Plus, VE Megatron ($56 shipped to US) and Monolith Liquid Spark and they all sound good. You don't have to break the bank with an amp.
The weight...unbelievable, gravity defying. I wear glasses and clamping is minimal.
They look goofy but they are marvelously engineered. The new version looks like it uses the same "wings" and flexible slotted metal headband.
No. The feedback is meant for AT's context and in case they want to allow any changes for this run.

I looked on Apos’ site… the default cable is black, and the purple cable is an optional upgrade in collaboration with Z Reviews.
I get that you might find the gold to seem blingy, kinda like how I was very nervous that I would end up feeling self-conscious with the AD700 before I got it. Black, silver, and white are safe “colors.”
I do think that Apos and Audio Technica wanted a visual distinction from the non-exclusive all black ATH-R70X.
For me, I think I’d have to see it in person. I don’t usually wear large headphones outside the home, and I’m bored of black on black tech, so a pop of color could be nice. The gold does cover a large surface area, but it’s kinda hard to tell from pictures and lighting if it’s like a champagne light brass gold or something with more saturation and luster, and overall is it a loud design or manage to suit it. I was also one of the people whose head was narrower than the AT headphones were optimal for 15 years ago, until I bent the headband arcs just so, therefore it would be interesting to try the new design and see how it fits.
The tuning of the headphone is interesting though, as my previous AT headphones were very colored in sound (and had older style wings) so it would be interesting to hear their take on studio reference tuning. I’ve seen praise for the standard R70X.
Well, a lot of the praise you've seen for ATH-R70X is from me. Its FR is almost exactly the same as Sennheiser HD650 up to 3khz, with some different choices above that.
I hope the Refine has at least as much treble; I worry about the description of added warmth. There's plenty of bass already for me, despite the graph -- and plenty of headroom (cellar room?) for EQ.
The Refine's basic shape appears exactly the same as the ATH-R70X, so I can promise you don't have to worry about comfort. The slotted metal headband above the wings is entirely flexible -- I just measured how far I can pull the cups apart with ease and it was 10 inches. It's nothing like the M40x or M50x in any way, design or sound.
