Hi,
 
I am about to purchase the beyerdynamic DT990 PRO 250 ohm version and I am checking to see if there are more suitable options to try while I am inside the headphone store. My budget is $300 and the main purpose for these headphones would be for mainly electronic music/ music that requires more bass. They will be used with my pc until I purchase an amp. Comfort is also a big requirement as I would have the headphones on for more than 6 hours a day.

They seem ideal for your requirements at your budget. You might struggle to drive those on your computer though. Could you not buy an amp in the store at the same time?

The DT990pro is not easy to drive. If you're looking for bass, your computer's amp won't do it. Look for a used Matrix M-Stage in the classifieds. Good luck.

I agree that the DT990 pro won't be driven properly by your laptop alone. There are more alternatives for amplification though and I think that if you look around in the forums, you'll soon find an amp that fits your requirements.

If your budget is $300, see if you can get the Premium version of the same headphones. And the 600-Ohm one, too.

I love these headphones and i love dubstep and other electronic, but they don't match. The 250 ohms is going to be too much for the headphones too. They'll sound way too quiet. If you can find a deal, look for the Ultrasone pro 900. double the price in headphone, but at 40 ohms you won't technically need an amp, but it'd help.

I own a pair of DT990 600 ohm's as well and I really like them for EDM. It's all subjective. If he's looking for a "basshead" can then I agree though, this is not one. But it has plenty of bass for my taste.
 
I would not buy these without an amp that can drive them proberly.

I agree - the premiums are more comfortable and available in 600 ohms.
Amp-wise - any of the desktop Schiit amps would be OK.  The sensitivity on the 990s is not too bad so those amps will do OK.  I use a Valhalla 2 with them and it sounds quite good.  The Magni at $100 would offer a solid improvement over the computer sound card.
