Does that mean it has a 3.5mm headset/phone jack that would be compatible with all regular headphones having a standard plug?

i have its sibling, the k750i. they are the same hardware-wise, the difference is in the firmware. the w800i can operate as a music player while the k750i can't.

the w800i will come with a mouthpiece+remote that allows a normal 3.5mm plug to be connected. sony ericsson will also be selling this as a separate accessory for owners of the k750i.

i have not used the k750i for music playback yet, but i've read that the sound is pretty good. there is on the fly playlists. but memory stick is not cheap, so storing music on memory sticks might not be a good idea.

i can see why some people would like their phone to be their music player. its convenient to carry one device around sometimes and for short trips to the convenient store or journeys that last for only 1-2 hours.

other than that, the camera is also pretty decent for a phone. this is a good phone that is packed with features and has a small size.

personally, I can't wait for the w800i to hit the shelves. the only factor that persuaded me to stay away from 3 in 1 units was battery life. if the actual life comes close to what SE promises, I wont have any problems at all. sure, the n91 boasts better functionality, but the battery life suffers because of it.

digdub,
what's your opinion on the port connector SE uses? do you think sound quality might suffer because the phone doesn't provide a built-in jack?

in fact, i've modded the headset that came with it to accomodate a 3.5mm adapter.

the sound is very good. the high end is very transparent and clear, much to my surprise. the sound is very clean. the bass is very good too. tight and the phone does not seem to have problem pushing them out. mega bass do make the sound muddy though. but there is a custom EQ that you can set. this phone would be a very worthy replacement for those who are thinking of buying a new phone and need a flash-based mp3 player at the same time, with a decent camera to boot.

so nice. hopefully by the time the w800i is finally released, I'll have a hard decision to make between it and rokr - though i doubt that. no matter how impressive the n91 continues to be, i'm liking the w800i best so far.

defenetly a GSM one.. maybe T-mobile or vodafone ?! im not too familiar with european carriers... what i know is that its a tri-band phone (thus working in 800\900\1800 GSM networks)
what i do know is that in my opinion you get a lot of bang for your buck..
a pair of sony mdr-ex71 a512 mb memory stick pro duo (can be used for psp or digital cameras) a superior mobile phone with 2.0 mp and all that for an estimated price of 500-600$
mind that cellproviders that have the k750i for sale probably wont sell the w800i because of cempetition...
i know im waiting for him... and people in need of a new cell phone and a 27-30 hour flash MP3 player with support of up to 2GB of extended memory stick will sure want it..
i have an Iaudio g3 already so i buy this one for the camera and because i have a crappy siemens m55

and so it begins.....

if this price is an indication of how much this is going to retail for elsewhere I'm going to think long and hard about it. Specially when a k750i can be obtained now for about $250 cheaper:

also, for those in the UK, I read orange will officially launch this aug 12th. dunno prices tho.

well obviously its a launch price.. it should decrease by 100-150 in the following month.. and this is the w800c which is sold in china
the w800i havent seen daylight yet so sit tight

not sweating that much. but if k750is are the same except for firmware which people claim can be flashed, well then I would not hesitate to wait the month anyway and get a k750i even cheaper.

btw here's one to a site selling 'unlocked' w800i/c units.

its also a question of design...i would go for the w800i front and the k750i back
and you get quality headphones and 512mb card.. which adds to the steep price as it is
