Hi Guys, I recieved my e500s a couple of weeks ago and I am very impressed by its sound quality. For me, the sound quality was quite a big step above the UM2s that I was using before.
However, I noticed that the e500 (as with the UM2s) are very sensitive and exhibit a kind of low static/hiss. I've noticed this in varying degrees with all of my sources, Macbook, Microstack, and iPod Nano. This is usually not an issue as the music drowns it out at even a very low volume. A couple of days ago, I started listening alot of classical music, and I found the hiss to be quite bothersome when I'm listening to piano pieces. In my frustration, I decided to try the volume controller (which came bundled with the e500s). I noticed that when I decrease the volume on the controller just slightly, the hiss completely goes away. So, now I keep my volume controller connected to the e500s, but it adds even more bulk to the already bulky (compared to UM2) wires. I guess I'll never be completely satisfied
Is anyone else in a similar situation?
