Hi,
I have Etymotic ER4-S (using the cable from ER4-P) and an old grey iPod. I am getting distortion on piano chords on some recordings. When I use the headphones on my home amplifier, I am not getting the distortion. I think this points to the iPod not driving the ER4-S right. It's worse with the ER4-P (and I like the sound of the ER4-S better so far).
I am thinking about buying a Dragonfly Black or Red. I need something portable and that sounds good. I am not using this for critical listening but still, I'd like a natural, balanced sound. I listen to mostly jazz and classical. I am a professional saxophonist.
I'd rather buy the cheaper Black, but I am concerned about it having sufficient power for the ER4-S. I think it's borderline.
Does anyone have direct experience with using ER4-S and either Dragonfly Black or Red?
Please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
